About the Program

NRETP Incubator Program is a National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) initiative aimed at supporting existing growth-oriented women-owned / women-led rural enterprises in the non-farm sector engaged in manufacturing and services. The objective of the program is to identify the most promising enterprises in this segment and help them scale up, thereby large scale creating socio economic impact. The program is being implemented by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) in Assam, Bihar and West Bengal, in association with the respective State Rural Livelihood Missions and 450 rural enterprises will be supported through this program.

A key aspect of this program is partnership with startups / enterprises having innovative solutions which have the potential to create significant impact in the rural enterprise value chain. IIMCIP is requesting application from startups interested in partnering with IIMCIP in scaling up the rural enterprises.

Program Benefits

  • Funding support of upto Rs. 25 Lakhs per organisations (against equity)
  • Opportunity to co-develop products and services for the rural enterprises, whose number in India is more than 55 lakhs (MSME, GoI data, Nov 2021), thus, potentially opening a huge business opportunity for the partners.
  • Scale up support from IIMCIP including mentoring networking and visibility
  • Work with planners and policy makers like NRLM, SRLM and other entities to help create value added services for the SHG sector and open up additional markets for the partners.

  • Applicants must be registered in India
  • Applicants must have a sustainable revenue flow of at least 1 year
  • Applicants must have proven service and delivery capability, to work with rural enterprises.
  • Experience in target geographies (Assam, Bihar, West Bengal) will be an advantage
  • Applicants should have solutions that can positively impact the rural enterprise value chain e.g. market linkage / development, storytelling & visibility, digital marketing, e-commerce, logistics, statutory services, digital enablement.
  • Applicants should be willing to partner / support rural enterprises in Assam, Bihar and West Bengal


Partnership for NRETP Incubator Program Innovation call in an opportunity for start-ups / enterprises to join hands with the rural businesses in manufacturing and services, enabling both businesses to flourish by opening up new opportunities and facilitating growth

The partner is expected to facilitate processes / functions / operational efficiency / market developments / linkage which will help rural enterprises to scale up.

  • Opportunity to participate in rural livelihood development pilot program of national importance
  • Total funding support of Rs. 50 Lakhs (against equity)
  • Minimum of 3 and Maximum of 5 partner organisations in each state
  • Selected startups / enterprise will enter into a 4-year tri-patriate agreement with IIMCIP and SRLM

For profit startups / enterprises incorporated in India generating revenues (minimum 12 months traction) having experience working with rural enterprises / communities providing solutions in the areas of market linkage / development, storytelling, digital marketing, e-commerce, logistics, statutory services, tech enabled efficiency which can favourably impact rural enterprise value chain initiatives

No, you will not be required to submit any documents at this stage. Selected startups / enterprises will be asked to submit necessary documents for verification before the tri-patriate agreement is signed

A partnering organisation will receive equity based funding for a maximum of Rs. 25 lakhs. The amount of funding and the token equity will be decided once the partner selections is done.

No. The partnering organisations will provide services to the rural enterprises mutually at a concessional rate for a period of 4 years  

The IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) is a not for profit (Section 8) company established under the aegis of IIM Calcutta to promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
